Can you tell me whats wrong?

I just got this betta last week from Petsmart. He looked like he needed anew home. His tank was not cycled before I got him... I should have known better.
The water is darker because his driftwood is leaking color but its helping with the pH level - My tap water is 8.8 but the tank water is down to 7.4 with the driftwood.
I am not sure what to do or if this will heal...
I am new to keeping fish.

Ammonia: somewhere between 0 and .25

pH: 7.4

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Looks to have dark spot above his head going back to his dorsal fin. His fins are fine, its just on his heads.
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Active - Seems fine and happy.
When did you start noticing the symptoms? a few days after I got him. I haven;t had him for longer than a week though.
Have you started treating your fish? Doing water changes regularly - it looks like ammonia burns from the research I have done...
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Not yet
How old is your fish (approximately)? 1 week

Are you using some type of water conditioner?

oops I forgot - I use Prime. I use up to first line in the cap which is supposed to be for roughly for 10 gallons.

And i would like to add that 75 degrees is a bit low. bettas prefer 78-82 degrees. Gorgeous betta, by the way.

You have a very handsome looking boy. I don't see anything wrong with him from what I can tell! I've got several blue ladies. and they all have a dark spot on the top of their head. I wouldn't worry. It's just their natural colouring.

Now if it starts to grow, or change colour, then I would be concerned. But right now I think he's ok!
