Couldn't get a picture side by side because Aquarius was swimming around too much but will cup them both tomorrow when I clean out Hollows tank and set them side by side to see. He is thicker than Aquarius and his body is longer. His body without his tail is as long as Aquarius including his tail. Aquarius is about 2 inch whole and Hollow is 2 inches just the body, his tail drags so I can't measure his tail in that easily (veiltail with finrot)

yeah, that's a king alright! i couldn't see the pics but i am on a secure network so... but your description says it all!

I can't tell with those pictures, as it all depends on camera angle, distance, etc..
Not saying he isn't, but it's hard to say with the pictures.
You will find them once in a while at Petco/Petsmart, but they tend to be labeled as Giants.
You will see a significant size difference between fish who are even just a few months age difference.
i.e - (for normal sized bettas) a 5 month old will be half the size of a 9 month old.. a part of it depends on the care they receive as fry/juveniles on how fast they grow, etc. And in the fish world, hours in hatch times makes a huge difference- from one spawn, an fry hatches at 1pm, and another at 6pm, the size difference in those fry as they grow will be very noticeable.

The 2 inches whole one just sounds like a young guy, the 2 inches body sounds like an average adult..

I think 10 gallons is for the king Betta.

He doesn't look like a king to me. A big betta, no doubt, but not king sized. And his fins are pretty beat up, but they look like they will grow long with some TLC.

The kings I have seen have short fins like a plakat. Your guy is probably just an older standard betta. He looks terrible, I hope you can turn him around. He is a pretty boy.

I'm going to petco today so I'll compair their kings to his size. I have noticed sometimes the kings they sell are rather small for kings too :/
