will a 7w heater work?

I have a new fish that I'm floating in my 10 gallon as qt. He doesn't really seem sick, but I think that he is not doing so well in the cup. I do daily water changes, but I think he would be doing better with more space. I have a 1.5 gallon qt tank, but it is acrylic. The smallest heater I have is 7w and it heats up the qt tank WAY too much. But I have a .75 gallon glass vase. I'm testing the heater in it right now to see if it over heats, but so far so good. If the temp stays stable, should I try it, or just stick with floating the fish in a cup?

Usually people recommend to put the betta in a container like a jar-ish and float it in the main tank for temp.

If the .75 works and it's stable then do it :) If not cup.

Is the 10 gallon heated?
If it's heated, float him near the heater.
If the temp stays regular and it doesn't over heat I'd use the vase.

Yes the 10 gallon is heated. So far the temp in the vase is staying at 74. :/

If the 10 gallon is heated then definitely float him.

Is the 7watt an adjustable heater? If so, it should heat the .75 if you turn it up.
If not, as said before, just float the cup.
