New fin growth? and Food question

So about 3 weeks ago I decided to get another baby from petco because I wanted my next fin-baby to be with me as long if not longer then my boy fred. Well today I noticed it looked like his/her dorsal fin had a torn appearance but the thing is its clear and there is a clear edging around his/her tail fin too. Is this new fin growth? Im not sure what it looks like because I have never really noticed it on my tail bitters who never really wanted to accept help and grow their tails back. Any who i can notice it from afar and I did not see it yesterday. Im just not sure if I should be concerned or not seeing as I upgraded his/her tank yesterday as a result of seeing some vibrant color come into his/her fins. I might not be able to get a picture but I can try a video. Also on a side note are there any better micro pellets other than hikari? Sammy wont eat crushed pellets and I would like a food with less fillers.

clear edging is usually an indicator of new growth. My girls fins got shredded and shortened quite a bit when she jumped out of tank 5 weeks ago, so I'm quite familiar with what new growth looks like. Her fins are almost healed now.

Im pretty sure it is but it just as a torn appearance at first which is why im questioning because there are no signs of something being off no change in activity or eating or appearance accept that the only activity change is he/she went from a 1/2 gallon ish tank to a 3 gallon tank so there is a bit of a.d.d going on with the big tank but nothing off. It just looks weird. Tried getting pictures but god forbid we just stop moving long enough for a picture ha.

Omega One and New life spectrum are the highest recommended pellets on here.

I have those two pellets already but Sammy wont eat them crushed and they are still too big for him/her to eat. Does NLS have a micro pellet?

I don't think so. maybe you can try live food like BBS (Seamonkeys)?

Not really sure how to get ahold of live food I did try brine shrimp, frozen and that worked but with school its hard to get the energy and remember to thaw it or refreeze it >.<

I just looked and NLS does have small fry feeder micro pellets just not sure how to get them and I dont need that big a jar so i might just need to live with hikari for another month

You can also try fasting him, then he'll be too hungry to be picky.

Nah. but thats for the advice. I just want something more nutritional then hikari micro pellets but he/she is growing and showing progress so it wont be long until I switch to normal pellets anyway
