Unfortunately I have a 2gallon tank and my heater can't be notched up any so I will have to rely on medications :(

edit: oh and can you check the parasite meds to see if it contain malachite green (or similar ) ingredients? if it does, it's effective against parasites and i recommend finishing off your treatment anyway.

I'll just finish off the current treatment. Who knows maybe with the frequent water changes he'll get better.

Aokashi, amazing call on the velvet. It turned coppery the next day and I got the malachite (spell) green and I'm noticing the copper is going away and no new copper is forming. However it is slow. Other than heat is there anything I can do to speed things up? I have also been blacking out the bowl almost 24/7 to help things along.

only heat can speed things up :( .
malachite green is pretty potent stuff. I do recommend maracide when the malachite green treatment expires. it's a milder medicine...
