Well if he is still single like you said, start talking to him again. You know maybe send him a text asking him how he is and stuff. Basically just start talking to him again and find out if he may feel the same way about you, if he does then great, if not then that would be your clue to move on from him.

Break ups can suck I know but everything happens for a reason so embrace the new opportunities in front of you, whether its falling for him again or finding someone new! :)

Thats a start!
When he calls just be open about how you feel, because if you don't he may not catch the hint. (guys sometimes dont get us lol) Hopefully he will be willing to be honest with you also and you guys can work things out.
