My male betta Aquarius rarely flares at anything or anyone. He's a more docile guy which is why he does so well with his tank mate Bilbo Froggins. Every fish is different.

Well, kinda. Keep him in the same tank but get the water level 50% less than usual. That way he won't need to use too much energy to get some air.

He has a leaf hammock he won't leave 2 and a half inches from surface
