Unhappy Help!!! Spot the betta is sick!!

I have had my betta fish for over a year and have had no problems. I fed her a couple of small minnows and she loved them! However, I noticed her abdomen is extremely swollen and she either floats at the top of the tank or sits on the bottom. The water quality and temperature are perfect I just checked. I think she is constipated because of the minnow. I haven't fed her for 3 days but she still hasn't pooped. I tried to feed her a shelled pea but she wanted nothing to do with it. I fed her the wrong food probably and now she is sick. It is all my fault and I desperately want to help her. What should I do? Could she have dropsy?

Ok dont feed her any more pea. Bettas cant digest them. What you need to do if its constipation is give her an epsom salt bath. You can buy epsom salts at any drug store. And put in 1 teaspoon per gallon, and keep using it for a max of 10 days(i think) it took my betta crush 3 days. Also feed her some frozen daphnia. Those are considered a natural lax.

You can use an epsom salt bath. Make sure it is regular epsom salt though. About 1tsp to a gallon for a few days should do the trick. Also, bettas sometimes poop when they flare. So if you can get her to flare go for it. I know some people have a hard time getting their females to flare though.

Also, IMO/E-feeding small amount of Pea pieces is not harmful to a Betta, however, you don't want to use Pea for the staple diet due to poor nutrition.

I would get her in an emergency tank with 3 tsp of Epsom salts, unscented and no dyes. You can find this at just about any big chain such as Walmart or Target and all CVS and Walgreens. If she's starting to pinecone that's not good. If you can, get your hands on some daphnia. You can get frozen from Petsmart or Petco. Just cut the little cubes into quarters and thaw in a cup of warm tank water.

Make sure when you put her in the Epsom salt you acclimate appropriately.
