What is my betta?

I just got my betta from Petco, but I want to know if it is a male/female and what type. Can you tell from the pics?

Could be a Hm plakat. However it's hard to tell when so young, he's adorable though, I think it's a he due to his anal fins, but can't really say as the baby betta tends to pretend they are a certain gender when not.

i'm gonna tentatively say male, but (s)he is too young to be certain.

When bettas are that young, it's really hard to tell their genders.

You might need to wait a bit before knowing did you buy a baby? or was it advertised as a female or male because if it is a baby you wont know for sure for a bit and you should really look up baby care on here because you dont want the risk of something happening, that has happened to me where my baby wasnt eating the micro pellets that came with the tank I got.

MaggieLynn, this is my second Betta, the first past away a few weeks ago from a virus. During his sickness I bought a lot of stuff to try to heal him, but it was to late. Through this process I learned and found out a lot about Bettas. My new Betta is very happy and has a lot of appetite (I'm not over feeding by the way) and I crush his/her food so that it is easy to swallow.

One more question, how old do you think my Betta is? He/she is less than an inch long (0.75-0.9).

I would say about 7 or 8 weeks. That was my girls age when I rescued her.

It looks like he/she is a very young veil tail...but like everyone says its really too young to tell...but my vt females look a lot more like that than my ct or hm's
