Many of my friends ask, " How do you capture your betta with out feeling like your hearts about to jump out if your chest?"
Well, I am going to tell ALL of you instead of just my friends.
First) I get my tank cleaning area ready for cleaning.
What I use: A towel( for setting wet stuff on)
A net ( for capturing the fish)
A cup or jar ( for holding the fish)
A colander ( which is a bowl type thing with holes. I out rocks in these so they don't stay in the dirty water)
Water Conditioner ( to de-chlorinate the water, making it safe for the fish)
Possibly a large spoon ( for gentally guiding the fish into the net)
Preparing to catch the fish)
Unplug ALL electrical devises.
Take off the lid to the tank.
For big tanks with decoration, take out the big stuff like large castles and/or caves. ( so fish doesn't hide )
Fill cup/jar with water from tank
Catching the fish)
Locate fish you want to catch.
Make sure cup/jar is near so you don't have to run to save your fish from being without water.
Stay calm, taking deep breathes.
Trap fish against wall.
Let the fish calm down, while still trapped.
Slowly ( you might want another net or spoon ) begin to bring the fish toward the surface.
You might want to use the spoon or extra net to push fish into the trapping net.
After the fish is out of the water, cover the top of the net with your hand so the fish doesn't jump out!
Getting fish into the jar)
Lower the fish into the jar so it gets some water.
If using a large container ( which I reccommend) just lay net sideways and let fish swim out.
If not, after letting your fish get water, flip the net upside down above the jar and push down on the net. Your fish is now in in its holding area!
Just in case, do the same thing for putting back into the tank.
Thanks, I hoped this helped! ( please get stickied! )
