Most animals are hard wired to to flee/hide from overhead shadows/movement.
all they know is that if you can't hide your toast.Try adding floating plants/real or fake. And just a thought, could someone in your home be messing with your fish.

I take back what I said last night. Even thought the fins haven't gotten better, Pudge has. He made his first bubble nest in over 2 months. I do know that usually bubble nests just mean they're ready to breed and whatnot, but it's still a huge thing for me to see from him. It's taking up a good third of the tank surface too, so he's definitely a happy little guy right now :)
