I don't know why his stomach got red. I only know that I fed him those daphnias - which I don't know if he ate it or not. He was fine before that. I don't think he really had columnaris. It was probably fungus.

well if it was true fungus sometimes it also difficult to get rid of. If he was lethargic and not eating before you treat him with salt ,it probably was fungus.
It could be just his slime coat which is looks similar to the fungus. But with slime coat he would not get lethargic. It just i never saw anyone used 4 tsp of the aquarium salt.
So sorry for your betta :(

Like I said, I read some where that I can use 4 tsp salt. Maybe that compromised his health.
