Bloated betta. *sigh*

Ugh, I'm so mad at myself right now.

I came home from school and stopped to say hi to both fish. I was watching Dumbledore and noticed his belly looked a little round. Rather strange, since I haven't fed them since this morning at 7:30ish but, anyway. I decided not to feed him dinner. Well, out of habit I fed Frederick and forgot not to feed Dumbledore. So, on top of a round belly, there are 3 Omega One Betta Buffet pellets sitting in there. I have a mirror set up for him right now to give him some exercise. I'm so mad at myself. I can't believe I did that. If he's still bloated tomorrow night (24 hrs) I'll put him in some Epsom Salt.

Ugh. *facepalm*

Once they're bloated I think, it's a done deal.

It depends on what's causing the bloating. If it's a symptom of dropsy then yes, it's very hard to cure. But other issues such as constipation or parasites can also cause bloating and those are treatable.

We all make mistakes :) If you don't feed him for the next day or so, he'll be fine :).

He looked pretty much back to normal yesterday morning. I didn't feed them yesterday, but I'm not home to look at him now.

I also think it's rude that people don't read and get their facts straight before posting. Had you said that to a less experienced keeper you could really scare them. I highly suggested reading up more before you post anymore, caljamsam.
