Hi All,
So I was rummaging around in the cupboard and I found some goldfish flakes from my old goldfishes, they both passed away, and I figured out why. I realized that the conditioner I found (the conditioner we used to use, by the flakes) we were using conditioner for BETTAS, not goldfish. Anyway, let's get back on topic. i was wondering if i could feed my betta, Harpa, the goldfish flakes.

There isn't really a difference in water conditioner, but oh well.
Feeding him flakes won't provide the needed nutrition, betta pellets as staple are best for bettas. :)
Well... I think he'd get sick after a while of feeding him those flakes. If you feed him once then I guess it's ok. But for a while, it's possible for him to get internal parasites, which is very bad.
Betta water conditioner is the same as any other- it's just a selling gimmick.. goldfish are actually not easy to keep alive unless you understand their needs - 20 gallon tank minimum for 1 goldfish, 10g for each additions. Water temps have to be precise to the type of goldfish, but generally all under 65*F. A really good filtration system with lots of water changes are a big time must. Unfortunately most people will house goldfish in the bowls or smaller tanks.. lucky if they live 6 months in them, which is sad as goldfish life span is over 20 years.
Anyways.. sorry, I just feel bad for goldfish :( Stupid little fish they are lol...
Goldfish flakes will not provide your betta with the proper nutrition.. the goldfish flakes are mainly plant based, while bettas are insectivores. Best to always use betta specific foods when feeding. He will become malnourished and eventually fade. And no.. the food will not give him internal parasites (fish tend to have them always as it is.. but flake food won't give them (or any fish) internal parasites....)

bettas also eat small crustaceans, eggs of other aquatic animals, and other small fish. So they are just carnivores right?
