Peppermint

I have been doing a ton of research on bettas and one question I cannot find the answer to is why is peppermint bad for bettas? What does it do to them? I am just curious. :)

Exactly. I'm not sure why one would want to do that.

I can't seem to find the page I was looking on that said why - I wasn't even looking at info about bettas, I was researching worm composting bins when I came across it. It was talking about how peppermint can be used as a pest repellent and you shouldn't put it in with your earthworms. It also listed other animals you shouldn't give it to, aquarium fish were among the many listed there.

Ive never heard that.. but its probably along the same lines as tea tree oil, it damages the bettas lybrinth? Organ. Or i have no idea how to.spell it or what exactly its called so correct me if u will. But maybe it can burn the fish? Like when you have something really mintuy sometimes it stings the mouth a tad
