I just got him today from petsupermarket (wanted to give one of those poor fish a good home!) he jumped out at me from the whole group they had. His coloring is mostly green with brownish color at the tail and a dark outline on the tail too.. flash on cam shows mostly the green. I have him in a 5gl tank with a heater and low flow filter (did my research!) so far I have a couple of soft plastic plants but I want to try some live plants sometime in the future.
one of my female's got the same thing going on, i've only had her for about 3 weeks, but they dont seem to be growing back...never had this problem with any of the others
