Update on my tank/plants :)

Today I split my Amazon Sword in half and trimmed the old leaves off my crypt to allow the newer ones to grow in... Hopefully they don't melt on me!

The tank is around 5 weeks old since putting the plants in, and about 14 weeks old in total.

Got a bit of a pest snail problem but not a huge concern for me at the moment. Can easily thin them out with the lettuce trick and Jiro likes to snack on them :)

Pictures: First picture shows the ridiculous root growth on my sword, which had only the little black stub you see at the base when I planted it. Almost pulled up my undergravel filter getting it out to split it! You can also see the modification I made to my lid so Jiro can't jump out like Taro did.

Second picture is the tank after splitting and trimming the crypt :)

Third picture is the tank 5 weeks ago, when I first added the plants. the spiral stuff died on me. You can see Taro in the picture too, RIP little buddy. (jumped :<)

random question... did you name a fish jiro because it has something to do with sushi?

lol I wouldnt have known thats what that meant...I dont eat Sushi (or much fish at all for that matter) which is why I didnt think it was cruel to name mine Sushi. but since u brought it up, do u think fish-keepers are less likely to eat fish once they own one as a pet??? I just dont like the taste or texture but I also know that I love my little buddy and look at fish in a whole new light since owning one...maybe Im a nerd tho heheheh
