Actually 75-80 is fine. Higher than 80* starts to speed up the metabolism so they don't live as long.

I thought he said 2 gallons lol...

The better range for Bettas is 78-82F they prefer higher temps than other Fish below 72 is not tropics the prefered breeding range is above 80F.
