Kaze had been showing signs of old age for a little while now. I don't know how old he was when I bought him home but I tried everything I could to treat his individual symptoms and nothing prevailed.
I finally sorted his aquarium out, made it as I'd always wanted and as I always thought he'd appreciate but after a week or so in there his vision started worsening to such a degree that I moved him to a smaller tank so it would be actually
possible to feed him. I had to remove most of the plants in the tank so he could swim to reach his pellets and eventually he would lunge at one, miss, then give up...
He spent over a day at the bottom of the tank trying to recover but it just wasn't in him. He fought very hard and died on 8th November 2012.
I would liken him to a dog: always 'happy' to see you, following you wherever you go. He was the friendliest betta I think I could have gotten and was just generally a lovely animal.
Rest in peace, Kaze. This is how I will remember you:
