Varying adult betta sizes

I'm just curious about why some bettas are so much larger or smaller than others. It must have something to do with tail type because that's genetics...
My male betta, Shiny, is pretty small. He's supposedly a HMDT, but I've never seen him flare. He's about an inch and a half (without fins). Considerably smaller than Fishie, who is a HM Rosetail. Fishie is at least two inches, and very "muscular" looking, if you know what I mean. lol. He's just big. Shiny is very delicate looking.
You can see both Fish in my albums. I have an album for each of them.
I'm just curious. Does anyone else have fish who are different sizes?

yes, my veiltail is almost 3 inches whilst my crowntail, older then the veil, is only a puny 1.25 inch! it is because of the same things that make us people diferent sizes, diet and genetics.

I think it mostly just has to do with genetics, some sort of genetic trait in their parents/grandparents/ect....some bettas are just build a little larger and 'stockier' then others.
It doesn't always seem to be limited to a specific tail type IME, though a lot of the time VTs do tend to be built a little stockier then other types while HMs/SDs/DelTs tend to be build a little more on the 'dainty' side. Build tends to not be as consistent with other tail types from what I've seen, it varies from fish to fish really.
I guess thats just how the breeders like to breed them...xD

I also think it might have something to do with the Growth inhibiting hormone they produce in small areas when they are growing, if their breeder didnt clean their tanks often enough or the tanks werent large enough that could have a lot to do with it.
