I have been keeping fish off and on for 25 years. I have been into killifish mostly. When I was a teenager, I bred bettas a few times but never kept them until recently. My one cat always stood on top of my lower tanks and watched the fish and drank. I figured I would get him a pet to watch in the back room.
I purchased two males and have them in 2.5 gallon tanks in my one room. He enjoys watching them and drinking the water. It is nice to see the cat happy because he is not doing well and may not be around much longer.
Anyway, I have a pale yellow crown tail and a solid blue veil. They are great. I have been renting for the past few years so my fishroom has been reduced from 30+ to 7 tanks. I currently have some killies, show guppies, a native bluegill, and a 55 community. We also have two rescue turtles, two English Springer Spaniels and two cats.
I am getting the bug to start breeding these again. Back when I was a kid it was amazing to see a yellow betta, now they are off the chart with colors and fins.
Look forward to learning.
