I was given 1 piece of driftwood from a customer of mine who never used it in her tank. It's dry and kind of dusty. How do I get it tank ready. I've heard of boiling it for 4 hours then rinse then boil again or soak in water for 2 weeks.
I'm not in a hurry and don't mind it getting soaked first, but I don't want it to "fall apart" or "grow white stuff" which I see a lot of people complaining about online.
It still had the original tag on it and it's a local Oregon company that sells it but on the tag it says "Made in Malaysia" which makes me think it's root wood?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I gotta get a 5 gallon bucket to soak it in. If boiling would one of those black (white speck'd) stock pots work? I have one from good will that we use for sterilizing our jars for canning.
Let me know if you'd like a picture. I have 2 pieces.. one I bought and it happens to be the same company as the one I got... LOL
