Delta want to be a dt

Yesterday, my betta was happily swimming around and fully finned. As of this morning Gill's caudal fin is ripped pretty much right down the middle about half way. This is too much change to be fin rot, so despite a tank with only silk plants he must have managed to rip them. Two questions:
-What salt type is best used for fin repair?
I believe its aquarium I just don't remember.
- I know generally 10 day treatments are done, but do you do 100% changes each time?
He's in a 5 gallon, which is a bit much for daily changes. I've got a betta vase he could live in temporarily, but it would be an awkward fit with his heater.

Thanks for any advice.

Yes its aquarium salt, but you could also use stress coat or vitachem works well for fin repair! I dont think you have to do 100% water changes everyday, i believe just 10-50% is ok for daily and then a 100% once the 10 day period is up.

He could have blow out his fin flaring or swimming around a little too excitedly. IME, thats usually what causes tails to split like that.

Honestly, IME/O, there is not need for any sort of treatment. A split is a very minor thing, no need to move him around and jump right to the salt, just let him be and maybe toss in an extra 25% water change if you feel like you want to keep things extra clean and the split should heal in a day or two. I have treated and healed MUCH worse fin damage then a split fin with nothing but clean, warm water. ;)
