Betta Fish Feeding: New at fish care

Hello, I'm new to taking care of pets and I'd like some help on how many/how frequent I should feed my Halfmoon Betta which only about 1 inch long from head to tail. (Named Firebolt) I just got this fish on November 23, 2012.

Currently, I'm feeding it the "Aqueon: Color Enhancing Betta Food" 1 pellet in the morning/afternoon and 1 pellet before I got to bed at night. Fasting day is on Sundays. Is this enough for my betta fish? Should I feed it more?

Tank is 5 Gallons with Fake plants, moss ball, filtration and heater.

I feed my betta 3 pellets in the morning, 1 in the morning and 3 at night. He doesn't get bloated or anything, since the pellet size are not that big (NSL and Omega One Buffet Pellets).

But A lot of people here feed twice a day around 2-3 pellets. Morning and night. Fasting isn't really necessary from what I read on here, because you are not overfeeding.

I only feed ounce a day 1-3 pellets depending on brand.

It depends on the pellets and the fish, but look at the instructions on the pellets. I have some pellets that say to feed one to two a day, others that say to feed 10 to 15 a day. (The latter are obviously much smaller.)

IMO you should not feed more then 3 pellets per serving.

My betta eats 2-3 pellets twice a day, and i also alternate with tropical fish flakes. Every so often, he also gets a bloodworm. I fast him one day every week.

Their stomachs are about as big as their eyes. That's enough for one days feeding. Twice that for young, growing or very active fish.

More important is the quality of the food. The first ingredients should be protein sources.

Omega one is huge and new life spectrum is tiny.

The instructions on my food says "Feed 2-3 Daily"
The current routine is: 1 pellet in the morning, 2 pellets at night.
