Is it possible?

So after we bought our little boy Spartacus, he developed ich not long after and we immediately removed him from the tank and treated him. We kept out of the tank for an extra week or so, just to make sure we got it all. However, he has the little white spot beneath him, and I was reading that, that could be a female egg spot? So my question is, is it possible that they could mislabel a female and male? My boyfriend says that his fins are much too big to be a female but we aren't too sure exactly? Any ideas or suggestions?

Some males have a small white spot under them when they are young or maybe it's permanent.

Once he gives me a chance to take a picture of it, instead of running away from me! I'll be all over that picture.

Yes, it is possible. Mine was labeled male, and she's most definitely a girl (no bubble nests, gets vertical breeding stripes, and has released eggs at least once). On the other hand, some males do get a white spot, especially young ones. And after doing some research, I found it is becoming so common for males to have one that in Betta shows, if a male Betta has a white spot, he is automatically disqualified.

Well he definitely is pretty young, so I will keep an eye on him and see where it goes.

I've heard that white spot can appear on males if their overfed or bloated..not sure on its accuracy.
