Project sorority

Well it's official I've got our sorority tank up and running. It's a 10g with fake plants and some hide spots. The 6 gals are 2 dragon scale HMPK (5months old) who are sisters. 3 girls are 5 star plakats who are also sisters they are just over 3 months. 1 thai vt. So far all is going pretty good.

When they where first introduced there was a lot of flaring, beard puffing, body slapping, etc..but pecking order has been established without major harm. There is some very minor nipped fins. There is still flaring and beard puffing but this only happens when they get in each others personally space. The body slapping only occurred on introduction.

The other thing I'll probably add some live plants, possibly bamboo, dunno it's a work in progress anyways. From my experience letting the them interact without my intervention has worked wonders. Don't get me wrong I would have separated them if I truly felt like I needed to.

Yes, let them establish themselves! That's a good idea. :) good luck! I have only had one sorority work (siblings with one non-sibling as their alpha)

My introduction went similarly, 2 ended up with nipped fins, but the rest of the introduction went swimmingly, nothing but a little bit of chasing and flaring. I havent noticed anything since the day i introduced them either!

goodluck on your, hopefully your sorority ends up being as peaceful as mine!

Thanks guys. I'm also dropping food randomly at feeding time throughout the tank which seems to help with the feeding time frenzy.
