QQuestion about Prime

So Iv seen people talking about so I bought some at my LFS....am I suppose to use itand a water condi. or is Prime enough?

Prime is the water conditioner; it removes chlorine & chloramines & detoxifies ammonia & nitrites for about 24 hrs. I don't add anything else to my water, not even stress coat as some people do.

+1, I do the exact same. For normal maintenance on a healthy tank with a healthy fish, you shouldn't need to add anything but conditioner...and Prime is the best stuff out there.

I have well water. I've been using Prime, but not sure I need to. No chlorine etc.

I use it in the well water before doing water change.

Am I wasting my money?

No. While there may not be Chlorine in your water like City water, there are often some heavy metals in well water which can also be harmful and, last I checked at least, Prime helps take care of as well.
Even if you think your water may not be harmful, unless you know the full and exact chemistry of your water, its never a bad idea or a waste of money to use a good conditioner to, at the very least, be on the safe side. I was on well water until just a few months ago and I've always used Prime.

Yes Prime is great its all I use, 2 drops per gallon and lasts for 48 hours and after that you may add more if needed between water changes, thats what I do.

Hmm....someone correct me on this if I'm wrong, but unless you have ammonia in your tap water and/or are in the process of cycling, there is no need to re-dose before your next water change I don't think. I believe it actually removes the stuff like Chlorine, Chloramines, and Heavy metals....Its just the ammonia and such that it locks and detoxifies for 24-48 hours.

Not that its going to hurt anything if you re-dose really of curse, I just don't think its absolutely needed unless you have ammonia in your tap or something.

Correct. It permanently removes chlorines, chloramines, etc... but temporarily detoxifies ammonia. It's good for people with cycled tanks who have ammonia in their tap water.
