Feeding at Spawning Tank

Hi,

I wonder if I should stop feeding the pair when they are ready to spawn?
The male had built the nest but the female is not ready to enter the nest.

I have been feeding both frozen blood worms before and after they are being introduced together.

I thought I read from some where that we are supposed to stop feeding at a certain stage. Can't remember. Please advise.

You are supposed to stop feeding when they enter the spawning tank, or atleast thats what I've always been told and do myself, this way your parents dont produce as much waste and you have the cleanest water as possible in the spawn tank so the babies have the best chance at survival!

If they are in there for quite a few days though I'm sure its okay to give them a pellet here and there

I fed mine sparingly during spawning. I think that the practice of not feeding the pair in the spawning tank can raise the likelihood of egg and fry eating. But then, I did several things different. I stuffed my tank full of plants, fed the pair during spawning, and left the male in there for three weeks. It all comes down to what works for you.

There is no right nor wrong method. There is only what works for you.
Some feed others don't - you have to find what works for you.
Some say water will go bad, some say it induces egg/fry eating.
Contrary, some say male will feed fry.

The fact is; most males (and often females) will reduce eating to a minimum. Some won't even eat.
I always try to feed them - before and after spawning (they're too "busy" to eat while they spawn/embrace. LOL). I always have live tubifex in the breeding tank and I would add other food sparingly every day. . . just my method.
