Strange behaviors

My blue VT was acting very strange this morning. He was extremely lethargic, and just sitting behind the filter not moving at all. I thought he was dead for a minute.. moving the filter slightly didn't make him flinch much.

I turned on the light in his tank and he, very slowly, started backing up and sort of sinking. Then he tried swimming to the bottom of the tank, and he was kind of swimming in an S shape, kind of like a slithering snake. I immediately thought it might be swim bladder because of the strange swimming... but then after a minute or two of that, he swam towards me and was acting more "normal", but still lethargic. ALSO, I noticed that his dorsal fin looks very strange.. it looks like dark speckles. However, it does look more like a pattern on his fin than like anything is "sprinkled" on it or sticking out.

For the past few days he seemed to be very, very active (sort of like darting, but he wasn't lethargic at all). When I'd approach the tank or be anywhere near it, he'd rapidly swim back and fourth across the tank. I thought this might be normal since I just moved him to his 5 gallon two weeks ago and now he has more room to move around. I've ordered a heater for him but it won't get here until probably later this week, but he has been in room temp water his entire life and I've had him for almost a year.

Also, I posted a thread almost two weeks ago about him possibly having velvet, but I didn't think that was the case after the replies that I got. The front half of his body is brown, and I'm not sure, but I think it might be getting more brown. (Or that could be me being paranoid.)

I didn't have a lot of time to observe him as I had to leave for school, and I'm at school now but will be going home for lunch in about 15 minutes.

I'm sorry, I thuink it may have been a false alarm. He's not lethargic now. Maybe I just woke him up turning on the light? I turned it on because I could not find him.

However I am testing the ammonia and am still unsure as to why he is brown..
