Betta fry dying

Recently I noticed that some of my betta fry have their heads down and tails up when resting. I quarantined them in floating cups. The ones that died seem to have white lumps on their heads, but I don't know if this is some sort of parasite or them being eaten by the other living fry. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do? Thank you

Possibly Columnaris but without a pic it is hard to say.
