My name is Lavender, and I recently got a little obsession with bettas. There is no other fish like them from their personalities to their appearances. I own... 10 males and 10 females, I think. The females are in a community tank and bought at pet stores, so some could be male. It happened thrice before that a girl turned out to be a man. Nobody is fighting yet, though.
I have been keeping bettas for about two months now...
The males are in a 5 liter tank, and before anyone picks on me, it was their choice. They just refused the 10 and 15 liter tanks.

I can post pictures of my fish, if anyone wishes to see.

If I kept 5 males in 5 liters, they would all be dead by now...would they not?
Each male has his own tank of 5 liters.

it's possible :) 1L/ betta is something breeders would do XD
under the proper conditions they will survive.
but yes it's a horrifying thought to have the casual everyday betta keeper keep their bettas in 1L of water :D

Techinically, a betta can survive in a cup of water, for a while. I am talking to you, walmart. I bought these fish to keep them happy and alive for as long as they can. Just now I found a green and blue doubletail girl that I had to take home with me. Though... the pet stores I go to are relatively clean, with varying degrees of quality. At some, I only purchase a fish if I really must have , then keep it in quarantine for a while. Though with most, I bring the fish home and see a translucent little thing, but in a few days they get colourful as they get a lot of sunlight where I keep them. In short, I do my best.
