Epizon not able to swim very far

Housing
What size is your tank? 1 gallon to make it easier to do water changes
What temperature is your tank? 78 degrees
Does your tank have a filter? No
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? No
Is your tank heated? Yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? Alone

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Variety of pellets
How often do you feed your betta fish? 2 pellets twice a day

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? Every 2 days
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 100%

what type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Stresscoat+

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Ammonia: N/A
Nitrite: N/A
Nitrate: N/A
pH: N/A
Hardness: N/A
Alkalinity: N/A

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Has a mild case of fin rot
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? He is reluctant to swim if it's not for food or air
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Yesterday
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Been treating him for a mild case of fin rot for a day

Hmm... This sounds to me like ammonia poisoning, but it doesn't make any sense since the water changes are so frequent o.0 Have you ever tested the parameters of your tap water?

He is doing a lot better when I checked on him. O.o I think he loves giving me a heart attack

Haha, I know how that feels. I'm glad he's doing better. :)
I figured this thread needed at least one reply..

Did he start acting strange before or after you added the salt? Maybe he was just having a bad day at the time, lol.

He has shredded his tail to bits, I think with all the rips it created drag or something so he is reluctant to swim? I have no idea

So is it tail biting rather than fit rot? Generally fin rot is caused by bad water conditions so that's kind of what made me think it could be ammonia, coupled with the lethargy.

But if he's doing better then I highly doubt it. I hope he makes a full recovery :)
