A Question About Metal(s)

I have a question. When you get plants from a seller and they have the metal strip on them, is it safe to keep them in the tank to weigh the plant down?

And just because I don't know, what metals are safe to put in an aquarium and what isn't?

I know @ PetCo, they sell bunches of floating plants with lead weights wrapped around the stems. Good idea to remove & discard the weight before you put the plants in your tank.

Wash your hands after handling the l-weight.

As a general rule don't place any metal inside that can rust. It contaminates the water and slowly poisons it's inhabitants.

I wouldn't put any metal in a tank. Most, if not all, metals are toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms.
