I want to sell good quality bettas. I would keep a male and a female or a male or a female to use for breeding. So it may go like this. Breed mother and father. Keep a female. Breed father and daughter and that would go one.

That is possible as long as the male isn't too old. IMO there is no actual age limit. But like all living things, the older - the less active. And the male needs to be active, caring for eggs and rearing fry. Make sure he is fit enough before you breed him to daughter.

He moves a lot. I can't even get a good pic of him. He is young as he is a LITTLE bit bigger than my youngest male.

breeding veiltail is not a bad thing! I bred CT x VT, came out with a male who has very good finnage for a VT, with the smallest of spiky rays on his caudal, and it's mainly apparent on his dorsal. VT is used for many reasons, and as long as you make sure the VT has good finnage it does not turn out in disaster. I picked a female with very good fins, for that reason.

Vt is used for various reasons... to lengthen fins is usually the most common reason to bring in VT. You would probably result in wider finned VT which you could breed back to the father, and obtain some nice fish :)

If you decide CTxHM it is not as scary as it seems. Agreed, some fins may be messy and undesirable, but that is how you learn. half suns are quite pretty.
