Bubble Nests

So my betta male made a bubble neset and when we changed its water it went away and now it is back does this mean he needs a lady friend? I have a 2.5 gallon tank do I need a bigger one? How big?

Do not add a female unless you plan to breed, rear and sell the babies in the future. Betta breeding needs extreme thought and reaserch.

A bubble nest means the Betta is happy. By no means does it mean he *needs* a female. Just keep your male alone.

Thanks

Thanks now I have another question (sorry I'm new to this) I have a fake plant in the tank and he seems to like to hide in it does this mean something or does it mean that he likes the plant and is the fake one okay? :)

What do you mean hide? Like scared hide, or resting hide? When he sees you, does he hide behind the plant?

Fake plants are fine.

You might want to add some sort of small cave in the tank then. This means he is trying to get away from the light and rest. My betta tank has a small cave and plant, and he is loving life.

Make sure you have a heater in the tank as well.

A good heater for you would be 25W. 50 if you can't find a 25W.

Make sure the temperature stays above 76 degrees.

Wow! I never would have thought of that I'm going to the pet store soon so I should be able to find one there right?
Thanks!

In a small tank like that a 25W is big enough. I favor the submersibles because they are not as easily affected by the tank's water level as the ones that stick out the top. A betta will enjoy lots of places to explore if you still have swimming room after adding them. Try to keep the setup simple as you will need to clean the tank and don't want places you can't reach to clean.
