I am back with a new tank!

Hi everyone.
I just found a 55 gallon on craigslist and I've thinking on starting a sorority.
Question is how many females and what other fish can I put in there, I want to have as many females as I can but also some other kind of fish if possible, ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I think 20 would be adequate. The rule of thumb could work here of one inch per fish. Lets say each female is 2.5 inches then you could fit 20 in a 50 gallon. 2 or 3 more or less wouldn't make to much of a difference. Sounds like a cool project!

20 Sounds like a good number but I am also thinking about housing other fish.
Would 20 plus some other fish would be too much?

You could try going with 10 females, and then pick another species to go in there. :)

I know about good companions for a male betta but i don't know if it would be different with a sorority; by the way no platies i have had bad luck with them in the past.

My platys murdered both gouramis -_- I'm with you on that.

I've had female guppies with female bettas and they got along really well. I think it's not as bad with a female sorority, considering that they are shorter finned.
