I definitely misunderstood what a Python was until I just Googled it. I don't see any issue with dosing the entire size of the tank prior to adding the water straight from the tap with that contraption. :)

I use a Python and add the dechlorinator to the tank before refilling it. Been doing it that way for many years with never a problem. I turn my filters off when doing water changes. There is no concern about the BB being killed off since the water is not being circulated through the filter yet and dechlorinators work instantly.
