What Type And Color is My Betta?

I bought this Betta at Petsmart and she was listed as "Female Betta" and all of the ones like that, Male or Female are Veiltail. But she looks different. I now shes 100% a Female because she has the white dot under her. But her body looks nothing like how a Veiltail would look. Anyone have any ideas of what type she is, and what color she is, she seems to be a mustardy brown, but I know there's "official" names for Betta colors and I was wondering what she was.

Male Bettas don't have this white spot.

Seems to be a Pineapple VT. It does look like a boy, but young males have eggspots too. How big is it?

2.5 inches. Could it possibly be a Giant VT Female?

Giants are like 4 inches minimum. That seems pretty big for a female, I really think that's a male. Might be a king but kings are 3 inches minimum. \:

I remeasured. Its body is 4cm. And its body including tail is 7cm

i see them put in the wrong containers all the time. perhaps it happens during the wc at the store. thats a male. he is cute.

To me, that looks like a slightly tubby Yellow Pineapple VT male.

Males can often display the little white 'egg spot' as well. Actually if you look close enough, you can probably find them on most fully grown adult males too, not just young ones.

If you know what to look for, males and females are fairly easy to tell apart by looking at the body shape, but a slightly easier and decently reliable way is to look at the ventrals; a males ventral fins will always be longer and fuller then a females.
Also, if you can get your fish to flare(usually a mirror does the trick), on a male you should see a nice big beard. Some females have big beards as well, but for the most part nothing compared to a males beard.

I doubt hes a giant or king. A lot of VTs are a little on the large side, but its just the way they're built really.

Pet stores often mislabel their fish. Its a very, very common occurrence. ;)
