IS this a normal settling process element for sand to demonstrate ?

if you can see, there are air bubbles that look like marbles because they are covered in sand, they don't really rise to the top due to the sand weighing them down, also, this sand is just simple petco sand, not 'live' sand, so its not any type of bacteria.. also the tank is not cycled.

the tank was just set up about 7 hours ago, when I try to stir the sand up some bubbles rise, and upon going to the surface deposit the sand that they were covered with at the top and float. I don't want to put my betta in this tank because he might eat it?

WILL IT GO AWAY?

Yeah, it'll go away. I use the same sand. Your betta will just trip out a little on the bubbles if he's curious. No harm.

So I could have put him in there? I ended up putting him in a large kritter keeper because I was worried about the sand. I dont want to stress him out anymore today!

How long do you think till it goes away?

Yeah, put him in. Mine always just 'sniff around' the bubbles for a bit. The majority seem to dissipate within 24 hours, with 2 or 3 remaining after. I just pop those with a pushpin.

Just use your fingers or something like a chopstick and run it through the sand to break up any air pockets.

I did, nothing happenes, they move around along the bottom
