Flaring females! (video)

The larger one (but she is not that large, maybe 4 months old?) is Macy, one of my newest girls. The smaller one is Charm, a petco baby I got for free. She is still very small. This video was taken the first hour after I introduced Macy to the tank. I think it is so adorable how Macy slaps her tail at Charm and Charm does not back down, flares right back! This is the first time I have seen females flaring at each other and they are so young! It has been a few days now and no nipping yet. They have both calmed down some.

I have noticed this too and I have realized that in the betta/fish world size doesn't really matter. One of my smaller girls chases my much larger girls no problem. The slapping happens sometmes in my sorority if one doesn't back down. It kind of keeps going and sometimes both of them are slapping each other. About a month ago, the old alpha girl Peaches went on an angry rampage and started taking body shots at one of the other girls. Ugh, she is the reason I have a breeders box lol.

Glad they calmed down. It's a turf thing, my home! no my home! I'm in charge! no I am!

Keep an eye, as long as they just flare things are ok, but I've seen that moved into biting, body not just fins
