shelf life of food

I want to get some Golden Pearls from Ken's Fish, but since shipping is so expensive, I kind of want to buy two bags. My question is; How long will a vacuumed pack bag of food stay good? Basically, what is the "use by" date for a vacuumed packed bag of food?

I think every 6-8 months is when it's time to replace. You don't want bacteria to start growing especially if it isn't in the fridge. Can you link me to this food? I may want to get this if it's really awesome..

Actually I think I will be good for about 3 years with the unopened one.

That's not a commercial feed. I'd keep it for about 6 months or a year in the fridge...in fact I might just plain keep it in the fridge.. I don't know there aren't any preservatives is the thing.. Message the owner.. The commercial stuff can last until expiration date unopened and about 6 months opened.

It comes in a vacuum sealed bag. A better seal than commercial foods like NLS, which expire roughly 3 years after being made, if unopened.

Yeah but NLS has preservatives. It's like buying vacuum sealed fresh meats at the grocery store and keeping them in the fridge.. How long would you keep a steak in the fridge, even if it was vacuum sealed? Me, a week.. I would contact the maker and see what they say.

Hmm...I heard that NLS doesn't have preservatives, but I don't even know where I heard that so whatever. Anyway I emailed them and they said it's good for a year at room temp and longer in the freezer. That is, of course, if the bag is unopened..:
