Blood Worms?

Hey everyone, I heard that Betta fish love Blood Worms, and it is healthy for them and makes their colours brighter!

I got some Freeze Dried Blood Worms and I don't think my Crown-Tail Betta likes them..

I've tried giving 1-2 to him, and he will eat it, than just spit it out, and let it drop to the bottom on the tank.

I don't think this is normal, is there something I should be doing?

When feeding freeze dried foods soak them for 5 or so minutes but frozen is better IMO. it is possible he doesn't like them or he's just not used to them. All of mine LOVE them. You can also feed frozen brine shrimp. Remember though these aren't supposed to be their main diet. I replace they're regular meal with frozen foods once or twice a week.

Perry loves bloodworms. Try live ones.

Two of my three bettas won't eat them. (The third will eat anything. Including my finger when I try to adjust something in the tank. )

I tried a couple of times, but it makes a mess - especially after I soak them and they get mushy. Eventually I just put the container into my "Gee, it sounded like a good idea...." pile.

That said, I've heard that some fish will eat the insides, and spit out the outsides. Maybe yours is doing that?

(Edited to add: I've never tried the live ones. Only the freeze-dried.)

It's possible that they're too long for his preference? See if he'll take tiny bits. If he still doesn't like them, I would given frozen a try.

None of mine will eat freeze dried, but when it comes to frozen every single one but 2 of mine will go nuts for them.

My female will eat bloodworms, but they are not her favorite, she LOVES live fruit flies. My male on the other hand loves freeze dried bloodworms and is afraid of the fruit flies.

Haha, afraid of fruit flies. That's funny.

When the weather is warm, I can sometimes find mosquito larvae for them. They LOVE those! Wow, do they swim fast to catch 'em.

That said, I am NOT going to start a mosquito farm for them.
