Question about Cycling

So im setting up a new custom tank to house 4 Bettas.

I have designated a portion of the tank for in tank filtration (no hang on).
The return will travel to the opposite side of the tank but will not cause any surface disturbance. In other words no aeration.

Now I know that in order to grow the beneficial bacteria the water needs to be oxygenated so my question is will an air stone work?

The tank will be 28 inches long, do you think more than one will be necessary?

I wonder if i could place just one inside the filter portion near the pump?

Thanks

Good to know you're aware of the importance of aeration. An airstone would work fine. Put it in or near the filter.

You know, the bubbles as they rise do little to aerate the tank. It's when the burst at the surface that the gas exchange takes place.
