cutting hornwort

I was out of town for 2 months, when I returned my new hornwort (only had it for 2 months) grew out of control. I pulled it out of the tank tonight and cut it from probably 2' to 6" then replanted the 6" hornwort stalks. I would imagine it will just continue to grow from that point right? Secondly, I put the cuttings in some of other tanks as floaters, will they grow?

if the secrion you cut is not the top section it will grow out an offshoot which will branch to the side. you can cut that and replant after it reaches a significant length

Yes to both your questions, that is how you propegate stem plants.

I hope you had someone doing water changes during those two months...
