Hi all, I finally decided to take the plunge and register.

Just before Thanksgiving, I broke a 12-year break from the fish hobby by getting a betta for my two little boys.

Prior to that, I watched my dad raise and breed discus (successfully) for about 10 or 15 years, so I'm slightly more knowledgeable than a complete newbie but I realize there's a lot I don't know.

I've always liked bettas and my son's betta will be the second one I've owned.

He's in a 1g tank temporarily and was going to go in our 29g with some neon tetras, but the more I read, the more hesitant I got about putting him in there. Other crazy things have happened, but I'll post them to the right forum when I have more time later tonight

Yeah, he is, Poluloff. My son originally sent me a picture of a beautiful black/green crowntail and said that that was what he wanted, but then when we got to the pet store, he picked that one 'because it's like the one I used to have in daycare'
