weird blotchy face?

Hello! I have been coming to the forums for help and advice but have never posted my own. But my bettas face looks sick and I'm not sure what it is. Please help! The blotches appeared and disappeared off and on since I got him in august. I'm not sure what I should try. Maracyn-two didn't work and neither did aquarium salt. I tried bettafix and melafix too but they didn't do anything. Bhe

What temp is your tank at?

I've not heard too many good things about any of the bettafix or related products anyway.

How long did you try aquarium salt?

The tank stays around 76-78 degrees. I tried aquarium salt for a week or two. And yes I read that bettafix didn't do much of anything so I stopped using it.

He's still eating, not tilting or gasping? Nothing strange other than the blotchy face?

He is still eating. He's his usual grumpy and adorable self, he acts and swims fine. he just looks....weird. I know that bettas change colors throughout their lives but it doesn't really look like that.

He lost a scale on his side last week but it is healing perfectly. I thought that was weird. I would describe his face as looking like it is molting or peeling.

It's definitely a little strange but as long as he's acting normal I don't think it's anything to worry about. Keep an eye on your parameters and on him for a few days.

Thank you. I am really worried about him, even though he still begs for food and acts completely normal.

Generally you only need to worry when you see behavior changes or more than one physical symptom. My Betta is turning brown and has lighter colored places on his face like yours. He has had them for weeks and is still fine. Their appearance can change randomly for no apparent reason, but it's not really something to worry about if no other symptoms are present, IMO.
