new first betta!

Hey guys, I've been lurking around the forum for a few days now doing some research! Today I brought home my new friend Creo!

Hes moved into his new 5 gallon home. with submerged heater to maintain a minimum of 76 degrees. I gave him a betta bed! in the back corner with 2 larger plants and a small one surrounding it to give him a mini jungle to hide around (all silk). on the other side of his home is a decoration log imitation. it has openings at both ends and 2 on the sides, all big enough to go through without ever touching his fins. I also added 2 shells simply for cosmetic looks. The tank has a hood with a built in light to help with the day/night cycles. I currently have the water maintained at 82 degrees!

Edit: The 1st 3 pics are during the set up of the tank, so the lid is now on and the temp is down to 80-82

any comments thoughts questions and concerns are more than welcome! Im trying to give creo the best home I can!

Creo was pretty shy when I first put him in the tank for 2 mins he just sat at the bottom in the corner. After that he made his way very slowly along the back. Checked out the plants.. came around the front checked everything out slowly. Went around probably 6 times doing the same thing, just faster laps each time haha. After that he seen the thermometer, and tried to fight it haha, then went over to the heater, took a round out of it haha after he realized they don’t fight back he got bored and went inside his log and checked it out then came to the front and stared at me for a few mins. And now he is just darting around the tank fast then slow then fast again then up and down and in a circle and twirl and being a goof ball haha. He seems pretty happy (not that I really know what a happy fish looks like..) In the back I have a plant that’s green with red leaves. Its like camo for him! He blends into it pretty well.

Congratulations and welcome :D He's a very pretty fishy. His tank looks pretty good but get that cover on if you haven't already, sometimes they like to jump.

I put it on and turned the light on right after I released him from his cup!
