Where can I buy female bettas?

People normally only tend to want the male bettas since they are obviously a tad bit more exciting to look at. However, I plan on setting up a sorority tank of females.. but at pet stores (and other stores) there is only the small section where the male bettas are kept in their solitary cups and I don't think I've ever seen a female betta before. Where can I buy them? I was thinking about contacting my pet store and seeing where they get their males and then contacting those people about buying six or seven of their females... but I'm not wholey sure what I'm going to do yet.

If you have female bettas, where did you get them?

I know all the petcos and petsmarts i've gone to usually have small selection of female bettas. I don't know if you have any nearby, or perhaps yours dont carry them?

Same here... Have you tried a Petco or Petsmart? Otherwise you can get some off of Aquabid. They are a bit more expensive, but they usually end up being higher quality fish.

Like the others, I've seen them at Petco. There were actually quite a few. I thought seriously about getting females instead of males so I wouldn't have to divide the tank, but a couple of the boys charmed me into bringing them home.

at my lps, male bettas are kept in a section while female are kept with all other fishes

I have had the same problem as you. I am planning on purchasing my females from a private breeder on this site as they will know a bit more about their personalities and the fish will likely be both better quality and healthier.

I have several that I'd be willing to send to you. You wouldn't be buying them, they're free! All sisters from a breeder on here.

They have some at both local pet chains in my area. The males are usually in the fancy display in a high traffic area, while the females are around the corner in one store, and with the tank decorations in the other.

The majority of my female bettas were hatched in my fishroom. I purchased my first female bettas from other IBC members.
