i cycled my son's aquarium in 6 days. i used the tetra safe start and added anacharis, java fern, onion plant and a big red tiger lotus from my goldfish tank. didn't see any spikes. looked today and got 0 ammo, 0 nitrite and 5 nitrate. the tiger lotus sent up floating leaves two days after. the move didn't effect it. if anything the extra indirect sunlight really helped. it has 7 floating leaves now.as far as the tetra, wow! the product worked well. but it's still cheaper to seed the tank, if you have the means to do it. but think of all the fish this could potentially save. and all the frustrated first timers this will help. it became easier to be successful. i just can't believe it was so fast. however, this is my individual experience/opinion.
fish in. just 1 betta in a 10 gallon.i didn't test on friday, because i was at work. if any spikes showed up i missed them on friday. i'm worried that this is too good to be true. and my tank will crash. looks good though.
Awesome....when you seed a tank with live plants from an established tank-The plants themselves will have a lot of BB to start with and since the plants were in active growth-they took care of any byproducts produced by the fish and organics in the tank-the silent cycle....
working on getting a camera for christmas. or i can try to borrow one. still need to add a few more plants. maybe some moss covered rocks. i can't believe that i already have to trim the lotus.now i just have to leave it alone long enough to get my nitrates up just a bit. i have tank related ocd. i end up over cleaning them.then my java fern pays for it with black spots.
here are some pics. i need some more plants. its a work in progress. this is my son's new betta. his name is pez dragon.
