Neon Tetras

How many Tetras is it recommended to school as a minimum? My only past experience with them was before I knew anything about raising fish and my roommate and I kept two tetra and one ADF in a .5 gallon betta tank... I can't believe they lived for as long as they did, I feel so guilty now that I know more about raising fish.

5-6 is the minimum for a proper school of most smaller schooling/shoaling species(that I'm familiar with), and with or without a betta you'll want at least a 10 gallon to house them properly. :)

I love Neon Tetras! I wish I could have some, but I only have a five gallon.
If you do get some, I would love to see some pictures!

I was 10 years old the last time I had Neons. Then they started slowly disappearing and I didn't know why. Then, one day, I looked in my tank and saw the tail of my last Neon sticking out of my Black Skirt Tetra's mouth.
